What
is Computer?
Computer can be define as an electronic machine that accept data, process data, stores data and produce an output called information.
The computer consists of four major parts;
v Monitor
v CPU
[Central Processing Unit]
v Mouse
v Keyboard
[NOTE Keyboard and
Mouse are used to send data to the computer; the CPU is used to process data
while the Monitor is known as an output device]
The
Mouse
The mouse is used to control the arrow [pointer].
The mouse consists of three parts namely;
v The
Right Click - This is used in gripping of word.
v The
Left Click- is used to ask for help.
v The
Screw – is used to screw up and down.
The Keyboard
The keyboard is used in
typing information into the system.
Types of keys in the
keyboard;
v The
Numeric Key [which consist of numbers]
v The
Alphabetic Key [which consist of alphabet]
v The
function key [which consist of f0-f9]
The
Monitor
The monitor consist of
a screen which is used to visualize result produced by the system

What
is File
File is known as a container in the
computer system which stores information
What
is File Extension
File Extension is an
additional name which is added to a file in order to indicate or identify the
type of file.
Common
examples of file extension;
JPEG [JOINT PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPERTS]; It is
used by most cameras to store photos.
TIFFs
[TAGGED IMAGE FILE FORMAT]; it is used commonly in photo edition on the
software.
PNG
[PORTABLE NETWORK GRAPHICS]; It can be used to save images with transparent
background which is used for designing and marketing projects.
GIF
[GRAPHIC INTERCHANGE FORMAT]; It is used in the wed because of the limited
range of colors.
EPS
[ENCASULATED POSTSCRIPT]; It is used in designing a logo or clothing design and
it can also be used in displaying images on web.
SVG
[SCALABLE VECTOR GRAPHICS]; they are responsible for wed design, along with the
use of EFS files.
AI:
they are used to generate vector base images.
PDS [PHOTOSHOP FILE]; Photoshop file uses layers to generate photo or graphic in other to help understand how those original designs file works.
9] INDD [INDESIGN]:It
is used for publishing desktop project.
10] PDF [PORTABLE
DOCUMECTS FORMAT]; It is used in reviewing document and graphic on any device
application web browser or operating system.
